Packaging Guidelines
Dear Customer,
At bazART, we do not keep any artwork in a warehouse. Each piece remains with the artist who is fully responsible for packaging and shipping. As a result, bazART cannot be held responsible if the artwork is not packaged properly and arrives damaged at the destination.
Dear Artist,
Ensuring the artwork arrives in perfect condition is crucial for customer satisfaction. Proper packing not only protects the artwork but also helps avoid damage during shipping, potential refund requests, and negative reviews. Additionally, we encourage eco-friendly packaging practices.
General Packing Guidelines:
Box Selection: Choose a heavy-duty cardboard box or build a crate with sufficient space around the artwork. Leave a few centimeters of space on each side to accommodate protective materials.
Tube Selection: Choose a mailing tube that is a minimum of 2mm thick and approximately 10cm longer than the shortest edge of the artwork when flat.
Wrapping: Wrap the artwork in archival quality paper or acid-free tissue paper. For added moisture protection, a plastic covering can be used. Fold any excess paper at the bottom upwards to protect the edges, and consider adding a plastic cover for extra protection.
Bubble Wrap: Cover the wrapped artwork with at least two layers of bubble wrap (bubbles facing outwards) and secure with tape. For framed pieces, foam corners are recommended to prevent damage.
Packing: Place foam layers around the artwork and add additional packing material as needed to ensure a snug fit within the box, minimizing movement.
Glazed Work: If the artwork is glazed, apply a safety film over the glass to protect it in case of breakage during transit.
Sealing and Labeling: Seal the box with strong packing tape and label it clearly with "Fragile" or "Handle with Care."
Custom Crates: For particularly valuable, large, or fragile pieces, consider using a custom-made crate for extra protection.
Rolling: Gently roll the print around the mailing tube to create the initial bend and ease it into a roll. Ensure the diameter of the rolled print is slightly smaller than the tube to avoid crushing.
Inserting and Packing: Insert the rolled print into the tube carefully, ensuring there is no movement during shipping. Fill any gaps at the ends with packing material to prevent shifting.
Sealing and Labeling: Secure the end caps with sturdy tape and label the tube clearly.
Inspection: Before packing, inspect the sculpture for any potential weak spots or areas that may require extra padding.
Documentation: Include a packing slip and any necessary documentation inside the package for reference.
For Scupltures:
Box or Crate Lining: Line the bottom of the box or crate with a layer of foam, packing peanuts, or other cushioning material.
Positioning: Place the wrapped sculpture in the center of the box or crate, ensuring there is at least 5-10 cm of padding on all sides.
Additional Cushioning: Fill any remaining gaps with packing material to prevent movement. Ensure the sculpture is snugly fitted and does not shift during transit.
Securing the Package: Use strong packing tape to securely seal the box or crate. Clearly label the package with “Fragile” or “Handle with Care” to alert handlers of the delicate nature of the contents.
Custom Crates:For particularly valuable, large, or fragile sculptures, custom-made crates provide the best protection and are highly recommended.
By following these steps, you can help ensure that your sculptures arrive safely and in excellent condition, ready to be enjoyed by the recipient.
