Big Brother

I’m drawn to duality and the play between meanings, and about two weeks ago I found the perfect opportunity: I bought a small plush mouse, a little holiday decoration.

That’s where Big Brother began.

Is it surveillance? Is it something else? The mouse, a fragile counterpoint to the oversized cat, opens the door to another story. Their encounter balances vigilance and care, control and protection. And in the end, the image remains a space of ambiguity: caution or tenderness? A gaze that fixes, or one that watches over?

Perhaps, here, both are true.
