A halt, on the way home

“Donkeys represent a classic theme in traditional Romanian painting. My father also painted many donkeys throughout his career and I continued this tradition. It's something that comes naturally, when I want to feel close to the childhood. Here, there were some donkeys from the town of Arcus. They were heading towards home, when they saw me and stayed with me for a while, before setting off again towards their owner, who kept calling for them.”

The colors and lighting suggest a warm, golden hour, bringing out the texture of the landscape. The use of chiaroscuro (light and shadow contrast) adds depth and dimension, typical of Bogdan's known preference for realism and attention to fine detail.
